"Sometimes I forget why I wanted to go into education. The rigor of this university, work obligations, holding multiple positions for my fraternity, it kind of gets hard sometimes. On top of this, being president of the Golden Apple chapter here on campus was another commitment I had to worry about but I loved it all. "Coming from a highschool where I knew my entire graduating class to a school as large as U of I was intimidating because I would have to change the way I made connections with people. You can meet someone once here and then not see them again for 4 years. However the large Greek presence on campus and the smaller more rounded experience UGC orgs offered lead me to commit to my sorority and I have not looked back since."

I like to think I've come a long way. My high school days were definitely not the best. I was following the wrong crowd and losing sight on the things I thought were important. It got to the point were I was, unfortunately, expelled. It took a lot for me to come back from that. It was tough juggling online and night classes but I was determined. I was able to graduate high school and eventually transfer into UIUC. Now that I am here, I am in such a better place. (Follow link to read full story)
