Upsilon Chapter

Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha, Inc. (SIA) was established on September 29, 1990 by 13 women in four founding schools: SUNY Albany, SUNY Stony Brook, SUNY New Paltz and Rennselear Polytechnic Institute. As a Latina-based organization, our goals are to constantly strive towards the expansion of awareness of the Latino community. We take pride in our diverse cultures promoting sisterhood amongst our members, and try to serve as models of excellence in education and achievement among all women. Our National Philanthropies include Children International, One Heartland and Sisters In Action. In addition, each chapter funds various local philanthropies. The Unstoppable Upsilon Chapter here at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign was founded on April 13, 1997. The chapter went dormant in 2004 but was later revived in 2010 by 7 lovely ladies who reignited the flame and introduced a new era of women to SIA.
